ABOUT THE BLUEWAYS

Welcome to Pinebelt Blueways!

Wait, what’s a blueway?  Also known as a water trail, the National Park Service defines a “blueway” as a stretch of creek/river, shoreline or ocean that has been mapped out with intent to create an educational and scenic experience for recreational canoers and kayakers.

Blueways come in all shapes and sizes and are located in urban and remote settings.  They promote a healthy economy and quality of life, preserve our natural and cultural heritage and promote tourism and economic development through outdoor recreation.

The Pinebelt Blueways consists of several routes along the Leaf and Bouie Rivers stretching from Jones County to Perry County – more than 50 miles of beautiful, scenic river for you to explore!  What are you waiting for?  There’s nature to be discovered on the Pinebelt Blueways!
